Khushboo Sundar's Stunning Weight Loss: How the Actor-turned-politician Lost 20 Kg at 54
Losing 20 kg at 54, Khushboo has proved that it is not the age but determination to achieve something
Actor-turned-politician Kushboo Sundar has achieved a remarkable feat, losing at least 20 kg of weight. Sharing her jaw-dropping pics on X, Khushboo, at the age of 54 years, also schooled social media trolls, who attributed her transformation to medications, which are immensely popular these days.
According to the BJP leader, her weight loss journey goes back to 2020 when, during the COVID-19 lockdown, she weighed 93 kilos. It was then that Khushboo decided to transform her life to keep fit and healthy and incorporated a disciplined routine that comprised yoga, planks, and diet control.
How did Khushboo lose weight at 54?
While it is commonly believed that for women losing weight in their 40s and 50s is nearly impossible, Kushboo has broken several stubborn myths. According to experts, weight loss becomes extremely challenging due to hormonal changes and a slowing metabolism as menopause begins to set in. However, Khushboo has proved that it is not the age but the determination to achieve something.
For her remarkable feat, Khushboo started with a consistent walking routine of 10,000 to 15,000 steps daily, despite a busy schedule that involves a lot of travelling.
How can women in their 50s lose weight like Khushboo?
In the late 40s and 50s, metabolism slows down immensely—and so, along with a sedentary lifestyle and low-nutrient dietary choices, and experiencing metabolic changes, they can all contribute to weight gain. However, experts say a few simple adjustments cannot just help you lose the extra fat but also keep you fit regardless of your physical capabilities or medical diagnoses.
According to experts, modifying your diet and lifestyle can help you lose weight at any age. Habits like staying hydrated and practicing mindfulness can also help. A few easy ways to do that consistently include:
Strength training
Apart from the cardio that you may be doing, strength training is equally important when it comes to weight loss, especially for older adults. Experts say as you age, your muscle mass declines in a process known as sarcopenia. This loss begins around the age of 50 and can slow your metabolism—causing weight gain. Adding muscle-building exercises to your routine is essential for reducing age-related muscle loss and promoting a moderate body weight.
Move more and sit less
It is important to burn more calories than you take in to help lose excess body fat. You can do that by being more active throughout the day when trying to lose weight.
Increase protein intake
Getting enough high-quality protein in your diet—through animal and plant sources—is important for both weight loss and also critical for stopping or reversing age-related muscle loss.
