Instagram fitness model and reality television star Syed Azhar Hassan did not always have a ripped body to flex. Once weighing around 145 kg, he shed an incredible 70 kilos in just 12 months—all thanks to his grit, determination, and hard work. However, for Azhar, a native of Hyderabad, the transformation has not just been physical but has changed his entire life.

How did Azar lose weight?
Azhar, who rose to fame after his audition clip from MTV Roadies went viral, shared his inspiring weight loss journey. While his story has resonated with many, earning him admiration, for him it was a turning point in life.
Apart from losing fat and gaining muscle, Azhar has also managed to lower his body fat percentage from 55 per cent to merely 9 per cent with the help of disciplined and regular strength training and a healthy diet—which he actually started four years back. “The turning point in my transformation journey was deeply personal after my father's passing,” he said on Instagram. Azhar added that finding himself unable to lift his father's body due to obesity was the moment that got him motivated.
While exercise and the right kind of diet helped Azhar successfully shed 55 kg within seven months, he had to continue to maintain the lost weight.

Azhar’s workout plans include various high- to moderate-intensity exercises like twister jumps, bird dog position, mountain climbers, and side crunches, which he does every day to maintain regularity.
Apart from that, he has also incorporated strength training into his daily routine and made a few dietary adjustments—all of which are followed with strict discipline. The gradual and consistent efforts helped him achieve his remarkable weight loss goals.
Azhar did not involve a nutritionist or gym trainer
Currently weighing 75 kg, Azhar says he did not take help from any nutritionist or gym trainer and created his own workout regime to target each muscle group daily during the first seven months.
For his diet, Azhar began with a modest calorie deficit - consuming 2200 calories per day, focusing on the right macros. While not following any fad diets, Azhar did eat balanced meals, emphasising consistency and a sustainable calorie deficit. Over the next two years, he continued the same way, achieving amazing results. Azhar says he did not indulge in any shortcuts or quick fixes but showed up every day making small, sustainable changes that added up over time.
Losing weight has not just reshaped Azhar Hassan’s life—both physically and mentally—but has also earned him respect, as many people now look up to him for fitness advice. He says the only suggestion he advocates is a 360-degree lifestyle change rather than relying on temporary fixes. Being firmly against following diets and starving yourself, Azhar believes in the power of mindful eating, stressing that sustainable change comes from a balanced and disciplined approach.
